Personal Work, 2020
Four years ago I quit my job as late night radio host to become a travelling joysman. I go to exotic parts of the world and fill my briefcases with whatever joy I can find and then jump trains into sad cities under the cover of darkness. These are hard times and a lot of families can’t afford joy these days. They’ve forgotten what it feels like. I smuggle in holidays, jokes, magic and sometimes even musical instruments if I can get my hands on them. I give them away for free so I suppose ‘salesman’ is a little misleading - but it keeps me out of trouble. Joy was outlawed several years ago by the council, so I usually leave my head at home to make it harder to recognise me.
